About

The story of Sippi

Sippi means seashell in Sinhala - a name drawn from the ocean and the wild souls who are drawn to it. It reflects both our Sri Lankan roots and a lifelong connection to the sea.

Sippi was born from a simple realisation: imperfection isn't something to hide - it's something to celebrate. That belief shaped everything that followed, starting with seashell jewellery itself - each piece a quiet reminder that what makes something imperfect is often what makes it real.

Every Sippi piece is a handcrafted expression of the ocean - shaped from responsibly sourced seashells, sea glass, sterling silver, and cultured pearls. Each one is brought to life in collaboration with skilled artisans across Sri Lanka, the pearl of the Indian Ocean, who share their heritage and preserve a craft passed down through generations.

At the heart of Sippi are our signature seashell designs - one-of-a-kind pieces that celebrate the extraordinary. Alongside these, our artisans also craft silver-only and ocean-inspired pieces featuring carefully selected gemstones.

Just as each seashell carries its own shape and pattern, so does each person carry their own blend of virtue and flaw, harmony and dissonance - an imperfect kind of beauty. Seashells stand for resilience as much as tranquillity: shaped by the ocean's relentless current until they become something rare.

Our Values

  • Craftsmanship and Heritage

At SIPPI, we are deeply committed to honouring traditional craftsmanship and preserving cultural heritage by working closely with highly skilled artisans from underrepresented backgrounds

  • Self-Expression

We celebrate individuality and authentic self-expression through unique, thoughtfully designed pieces.

  • Sustainability

Our pieces are made from responsibly sourced natural materials. Our creations are shaped with purpose and respect for the environment.

  • Connection

Each design reflects a meaningful connection between people and the ocean that inspires us.

  • Empowerment

Above all, we believe jewellery is a powerful form of empowerment, a way to express your true self and carry a story that is both personal and timeless.

Made to last

We know the skill of our artisans and the integrity of the materials they use — but we don't ask you to simply take our word for it. Every Sippi piece is independently tested and hallmarked in the UK, carrying both the official Assay Office stamp and our own commissioned Sippi maker's punch. Where a design is too delicate for a traditional strike, we use laser hallmarking instead — preserving the detail of the piece while still guaranteeing its purity.

This mark is more than a formality. It's a visible promise of transparency and quality, and a form of trust we want you to feel in every piece you wear.

Our Impact

The ocean is where Sippi began, and it remains central to everything we do. Beyond design, we work hands-on to help restore marine ecosystems — supporting coral planting, mangrove restoration, and coastal clean-ups across Sri Lanka.

These aren't side projects. They're woven into how every piece is made, from sourcing through to the story it carries. As Sippi grows, so does our commitment to the ocean and the communities that shape our work.
